Pittsburgh Indoor Rowing Championships

Fifteen junior and 5 adult SCRC rowers participated in this year's Pittsburgh Indoor Rowing Championships held on 19 January 2011 at North Catholic High School. Medal winners included: Emma Schauf, silver medal, Lightweight High School Senior Girls; Bill Fox, bronze medal, Lightweight Youth Novice Boys; Dori Tompa, gold, Lightweight Senior Masters Women; Maggie Charlie, Veteran Masters Women

*Qualifies for USRowing Youth National Championships in June (only 1st and non-novice events are eligible to qualify)

USRowing World Championship Trials

In the lightweight 2x final, Matt Maddamma and Andrew Todd placed 2nd by only 3 seconds.
In the 1x final, Suzanne Maddamma was 3rd., 15 seconds from 1st. Had either boat won, they would have represented the USA in the Under 23 World Championships in Amsterdam in July.  Matt has participated in the Junior World Championships in 2009 and Suzanne had participated in the Junior World Championships in 2006 and 2007. Maddy Pollock and Alison Simmons raced in a 2x in preliminary heats.  They placed 8th overall.  They had a respectable time even beating a US Junior National Selection camp boat.  As Maddy and Ali are young, this is great experience for future years.
